On the Road Again, Redux

Hello from your friend/annoyer, depending…

A bit later today (6/24/24), if all goes well, we will be on our way to Italy. At this moment, I am remembering how to post a blog, and how to include folks I have sent this to in the past, or let those who do not wish to be included know we’re in the no-guilt-just delete if you wish not to be getting one more stinking email!

Daughter Kelley Schuler, Granddaughter Kiara Griffey, and I are off on a girls’ trip, gobbling up some sights, each other’s company and enjoying a little bit of a tour.

Tomorrow we land in Venice, Kelley’s pick for her special place (how to choose, there are sooo many). I will probably pop a blog off from there, La Serenissima – the serene Republic of Venice, queen of the seas at one point, now weighed down by tourists who like us, come to marvel at her beauty, aged dignity, and watery light that has attracted artists for centuries.

This is a special time for us, spending days with each other, quiet time, travel — train, bus, car, and lookie-loo time. For me, it remains one of the sacred rituals of “the trip” spending our precious hours with those whose shared experiences will dim, but never erase.

Traveling wakes me up, heightens my senses, widens my viewpoints of the world, and I am sure one of these days, and long before I am ready, voyages will be in the past, and a thing of memory. Experiences — that counts!
